THE 69 EYES Get Ripped Off On Eve Of Album's Release
March 8, 2002Finland's THE 69 EYES and the Helsinki studio (owned by producer Johnny Lee Michaels) where the group are recording their new album, entitled Paris Kills, were victims of a robbery during the morning hours of March 7th when thieves broke into the facility and stole various studio equipment and musical instruments that were being used during the album's recording sessions. Fortunately, the nearly-completed master tapes for THE 69 EYES' aforementioned album were left intact.
According to the band's record label Poko Records, a large number of microphones as well as some easily recognizable guitars were taken from the studio, including two black Gibson Les Pauls—one custom and one standard model. In addition, a sunburst-colored Fender Telecaster Nashville guitar, a rare Gibson Les Paul Joe Perry Model and a rare Höfner bass originating from the 60's are still missing. People who know anything about the incident can help by calling the police at the following number: 09-1891522 (ask for Saarela).
As a result of this setback, it now appears that the previously planned late March release of Paris Kills will be pushed back to sometime in April.
In other news, "Dance D'Amour", the first single from Paris Kills, is currently at position #3 on the Finnish Singles Chart eleven weeks into its release.
